Combined use of 3D and FLASH technologies

On this web-page we demonstrate various groundwork of the combined use of 3D and FLASH technologies. A combination of 3D and FLASH technologies, in our opinion, gives good results. Such work undoubtedly takes more time than creation of the usual “static” image of the object, because it requires the visualization of a certain number of pictures, but the result definitely pays off. Today the FLASH technology helps us in our work giving an opportunity to bring in the element of control and manipulation of the visualized 3D-model, which 3ds max alone is incapable of regardless of its resources. The technology makes it simple for us to upload to the web-site an animated samples made in Autodesk 3ds max. In this case at first we create an animation in the program 3ds max in .avi format. Then we transform it into the .FLV format (flash-video format) with the help of a converting program and then we upload it to this web-site. Below you will find the examples of these samples. Click the number of the sample you want to watch in the left-hand column of the table. The resolving capacity of each sample is 320 per 240, the size of the files varies.

Thus we can not only create high-quality static image of the objects but also the animated samples (including commercials, videos aimed at presenting the goods or providing insight into the process) which can be presented on the web-page of the client. We also want to attract your attention to the fact that the quality of the FLV-video has intentionally been lowered for the clients who don’t have a high-speed Internet to be able to watch the videos without any inconvenience.

The acquisition of skills needed to work with Adobe Flash CS3 as the Learning and using Adobe Flash CS3 to work with flash-technology opens up possibilities of compiling the videos of .swf format from the frames made in Autodesk 3ds max. Click the picture on the left to watch the video demonstrating the process of assembling of a fire place. (“Start” – starts playing the video, “Stop” – stops it, “To the beginning” – takes back to the first frame/stops the video). This video has been made as described earlier. The size of the file is around 9 Mb, which might take some time to boot. Work with the layers in Adobe Flash CS3 opens up a lot of opportunities of editing such videos and introducing various effects to it, including the operational effects which we will take a closer look at them below.

You will see another swf video compiled from the frames made in Autodesk 3ds max if you click the picture on the left or HERE (the file size is around 6 Mb, the number of the generated frames – 300, all the frames have initially been made in .jpeg format and then transformed in .gif in Adobe Photoshop with the downgrade in quality, which made it possible to decrease the file size in SWF format from 14 Mb to 6 Mb). “Start” – starts playing the video, “Stop” – stops it, “To the beginning” – takes back to the first frame/stops the video. To come up with the total price for such video we will consider the necessary number of frames in the animation (i.e. the duration of the video), the quality of rendering of the frame (including the size of each frame).

Creating a manageable video of SWF format

To open the box with the manageable video of .swf format click the picture on the right (the file size is around 2 Mb, so you will have to wail for a while to boot it completely). You can watch the spinning of the 3d model if you click the botton “Circular motion” in the opened window. You can also spin the model after opening the box using the “left”, “right” buttons on the keyboard. You can operate the model in different ways (spinning, moving it in different directions) using not only the keyboard but also the mouse. (look at the picture below).

Clicking on the right-hand picture you will open a box where you can move various objects directing the mouse at them, thus demonstrating the structure of the wardrobe (the file size of the .swf video is 700 Kb). You will see an SWF video from another angle if you click HERE (file size 1 284 Kb). To come up with the total price for the manageable video we will consider first of all the quality of rendering of the object in Autodesk 3ds max (including the resolving capacity of the picture) and the complexity of applying the operational effects to the details of the of the object. The more “smooth” the movements of the details have to be, the more frames we have to create in Autodesk 3ds max.
